TENS/EMS
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation)
- Purpose: Pain relief.
- How it works: Sends electrical impulses to stimulate sensory nerves, which can block pain signals from reaching the brain or trigger the release of natural pain-killing chemicals like endorphins.
- Common uses: Chronic pain conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, and nerve pain, as well as acute pain from post-surgical recovery.
EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation)
- Purpose: Muscle strengthening, rehabilitation, and recovery.
- How it works: The electrical current directly stimulates muscle fibers, causing them to contract. This can help to rebuild muscle strength after injury or prolonged inactivity.
- Common uses: Rehabilitating muscles after injury, surgery, or conditions like stroke, as well as helping with muscle atrophy.
